Beloved Sons....

Today is Geoffrey's Birthday. He would have been 29. I've done a lot of reflecting the past week in anticipation of this day. I didn't know how I would feel or what I could possibly do on this day. I know I will shed a few tears for him. Then, I decided to me, this day would be a celebration of his life. Geoff loved brownies and mint chocolate chip ice cream so, I must have some of that! His favorite books to read were anything Calvin and Hobbs. In fact, when we received his foot lockers back from Iraq there were worn out copies of Calvin and Hobbs and a worn out copy of the Book of Mormon. So, I will have to read a little of both. I will visit his grave today to leave some flowers. I will watch his favorite movie The Princess Bride because it will make me laugh. I will do something good for someone else because of all the good he did for so many. And maybe at the end of this day I will feel I have had a little part of him with me. In thinking about this, he really had little parts of all of us in him. From Paige he learned compassion. He would listen and respond to her when others couldn't get through. From Cole he learned his playfulness. They would wrestle across any floor as I'm yelling, "Don't break anything!". They continued to do this up until the last time I saw him. From Alex he got his protective quality. I can never remember a time when he teased Alex. He was always watching out for her. From Amy he got his small little giggle because she made him happier than anyone else could have. From Jim he got his half smile and fearlessness because of his respect for his father. And from me, he got his quirkiness. Need I say more? But, most importantly, he learned how to be the best husband and father from the family he loved so much! When I heard he had passed away all I desired was to put my arms around him one more time. Nothing else mattered in this life. It was at that moment I realized I could put my arms around him again because of the Savior's atoning sacrifice for us. I then knew why it was so important to the Savior to lay down his life for us. I realized how much the Savior loves us no matter who we are or what we believe. He loves us and because of that love we have the opportunity to embrace our own again. So on this day, the day of my sons' birthday, I am going to have hope and that hope is going to be in my Savior,
Jesus Christ.

But.......

But... he loved the box his toy came in most of all! Isn't that usually the case? Lol

Happy Birthday To Parker!

Parker insisted on mint chocolate chip ice cream for his b-day! (also Geoff's favorite) Does Brayden look like he enjoyed it?

Parker also loved his chocolate cake but....

Fun at B-Day Dinner...

Kelsi and Brooke are having fun at the B-Day dinner!

B-Day Dinner...

Does Jim look like he's enjoying Parker's B-Day Dinner?

Too Cute...

I went to a fun class at Traci's and made this bag and matching cards. I'm going to put pics of Brooke in them because the flowers remind me of her bows. Oh yeah, and I'm going to keep them cause they're too cute to part with!

One Beautiful Sunset!

This is a pic of Alex and her beautiful roomies just before they went out last weekend.
I think she may be having too much fun! What do you think?

This is a picture Alex took of the Rexburg LDS Temple close to her apartment. She even used her phone to take the pic. When she was home Christmas she kept telling me about the beautiful sunsets there. I told her that they couldn't be as beautiful as our Texas ones. I guess she proved me wrong. It is One Beautiful Sunset!

Crazy, Huh!

This is part of a conversation I had with Geoff while instant messaging him the week after he got back from Qatar. While he was gone 4 of his friends were killed and he wasn't happy about it. The above pictures of him are what I saw while talking to him;
Geoff - Tell grandpa we've been working really hard all week trying to locate all the terrorists in Baghdad with all the stuff going on and because of my teams work, we were able to locate and kill over 200 enemy Saturday alone. And this week General Petraeus will be briefing our work specifically to Congress. Crazy, huh! My team has been getting a lot of acknowledgement over here. It has been a very rewarding week for us. That new coin I got was from General Cartwright who is the highest ranking General in the air force. Also a 4 star General.
Tell grandpa when I come back I can probably tell him some really cool things he'd like.
I wish I could do more here, even though we do a lot to help out. I feel bad for all the guys who have to go outside the wire everyday and risk their lives to accomplish things I just put on paper.
There was a civilian here the other day that said the only reason he comes out here as a contractor is because when he is here, a soldier is sent home. So every time he comes out for a few months someone gets a break.
Jennifer - You don't realize how much sacrifice war requires unless you have experienced it.
Geoff - That's true. It is nothing you could ever know without experience. Like yesterday, me and P----- were going to chow and 3 to 4 missiles shot just overhead us and made us jump and run and then today P----- told me she had nightmares all night about being killed by one of the rockets. It affects you in ways you can't even imagine. I think I have a completely different outlook on life and the kind of person I want to become.
Jennifer - Why did the air force General give you the coin?
Geoff - I helped his team out and they helped me out on the way back from Qatar.
There was a secret agent there that asked me if I could do somethings for him real quick without me knowing who he was or why, but I helped him out cause I wasn't doing anything else and then they helped me out with the flight back here (Baghdad). I flew on the General's personal flight, with his special agents and General Cartwright.
Jennifer - Wow!
Geoff - Ya
Jennifer - Did you tell your Sergeant you got the coin?
Geoff - Ya, I showed them all!

Veteran's War Memorial

Here is a picture of Geoffrey's brick at the Veteran's War Memorial. A good friend purchased it for our family. Like I said, " What would we do without good friends?"

Brayden's 1st

Yes, and this is proof that we did celebrate Brayden's 1st birthday! Although, I'm not sure we remember it too clearly. He took off walking shortly after this.

Where Would We Be Without Friends....

I love and appreciate those good friends and family who were able to come and support us for Geoff's Funeral services at Ft. Hood.

Bright and Cheery!

It's GREAT to check in with the Grand kids everyday! How can you not be cheered when you see them.

If That's The Only Thing...

All of us have been eating our dinners together . We trade off cooking and each of us only has to make 4 dinners out of every 14 , so, it has worked out great in my opinion! Lol! Anyway when I got to Jordan's tonight I think I saw the dirtiest face on him that I've ever seen on anyone! You be the judge.

He got a new puppy, Hurley, the miniature Australian Shepherd. Looks like Hurley is enjoying it! Lol! One of my best friends ever (Debra) told me once, talking about the cats her daughter "tortured" growing up, said, "If that's the only thing that cat has to put up with for his keep I think he can handle it." So, I guess if that's the only thing Hurley has to put up with for his keep, I guess he can handle it too!

I Love To Make Jewelry!

I love to make jewelry! This is a bracelet and pair of earrings I made to wear at the hospital gala.

A Beautiful....

This is a beautiful picture of Noemi and Charlie I found. We are so glad Noemi joined our family!

I'm Sure It Must Have Been Important...

I found this picture taken around xmas. I don't know why Alex was holding a plate, fork and 20 dollar bill. I'm sure it must have been important... Maybe she or someone else can shed some light on it.

I Actually Did It!

I actually did it! I made my own book and it was fun! I purchased a zutter to bind it and it was easy. I then took old Valentines cards I had given Jim in the past and cut them up and made them into a book. I'm working on another one (journal) now.

Is She Cute or What?

And such a good baby too!

Happy Birthday Pretty Charlie!

We attended Charlie's 3rd birthday party last week. Grandpa Cole even made the cake himself! Lol

Yummy! She couldn't wait for the cake to be cut! I guess grandpa did too good of job!

One of My Favs...

I couldn't help it. I was reminiscing when I came across this pic of Alex and Olivia. I think it is one of my favorite pics.

By Royal Decree! Kings and Queens, It Is a Royal Ball!

King Parker at his royal ball and...

Queen Alex at hers! lol

And It's Goofy! Oh No, I Mean Jordan!

Jordan asked me to cut him some apples. A few minutes later this is what I found! I guess there are other uses for that bowl!

Awwwww....

It's always hard to resist a good Paige/Jordy pic.

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not, She Loves .....

I think she's prettier than any flower I've ever seen!
